The Center for Community Builders (CCB) is the joint effort of six community building organizations to improve outcomes for residents of low-income communities by:

  • Strengthening the capacities of resident leaders and other practitioners
  • Elevating their voices and influence in the community building field.

The CCB will work to strengthen practitioners' capacities for peer-to-peer support through:

  • Providing practitioner-led training and technical assistance
  • Supporting practitioners in developing effective program and practice tools
  • Developing innovative financing strategies and sustainability planning
  • Providing direct financial support to local efforts

For a brief overview of the CCB, see our brochure. For more detailed description of the CCB and its three Institutes, see the Executive Summary of our concept paper.

Building Powerful Neighborhood Organizations-The Detroit Blueprint.

The Center for Community Builders (CCB) is unveiling Building Powerful Neighborhood Organizations: The Detroit Blueprint as the first in a series of tools that are designed to share information and resources that have been “field-tested,” refined, and improved over years of experience. It is the CCB’s belief that sharing these tools and these experiences gives community builders a chance to learn from one another, and apply lessons learned in one neighborhood to other areas, strengthening the community building field as a whole. Cover and table of contents available here. For purchasing, please contact the administration assistant at admindesk at urbanstrategies.org or (510) 893-2404. Individual books are $20 each plus shipping and handling. $12 each for orders of 10 or more.
